1. Our Core Privacy Promise: User-Owned Data

Unlike many other note-taking applications, Notey does not store your notes on our own servers.

Local Storage

Your notes are stored locally on your device in an encrypted database.

Personal Cloud Sync

If you enable synchronization, your data is encrypted and stored in your own Google Drive account (specifically in the hidden "Application Data" folder). We do not have access to your Google Drive files.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

User ContentWe collect and store the notes, images, videos, voice recordings, and drawings you create within the app. This data resides solely on your device or your personal Google Drive.
Account InformationIf you sign in, we process your Google Account email and profile picture solely to authenticate you with Google Drive services. We do not sell or share this identity.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

Device InformationWe may collect information about your mobile device, including model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers (for advertising and analytics purposes).
Usage DataWe use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage statistics (e.g., "User created a note", "App crashed"). This helps us improve app stability.
Location DataIf you use "Location-based Reminders," we access your device's precise location. This location data is processed locally on your device to trigger the reminder and is not transmitted to our servers.

3. Permissions & Usage

We request the following permissions to provide specific features:

Required to capture photos and videos to attach to your notes.

Required to record voice notes.

Storage

READ/WRITE

Required to save backups and export notes to your device.

Location

ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION

Required only if you set a Geofence Reminder.

Biometrics

USE_BIOMETRIC

Used to lock/unlock your private 'Vault'. Remains on hardware.

Notifications

POST_NOTIFICATIONS

Used to deliver scheduled reminders.

5. Data Security

Encryption: Your local database is protected by Android's sandbox. Sync data is transmitted over SSL/TLS to Google Drive.
Vault: Notes in the "Vault" are protected by your device's biometric security.
No Middleman: Since we do not host a backend server for your notes, we cannot decrypt, view, or sell your content.

6. Children's Privacy

Notey is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
